As much as I would like to say my child fits neatly in a box called Apraxia or Dyspraxia or Developmental Delay, or Fetal Valproate Exposed…. he doesn’t. He rather stands on hands and knees, with one limb in each box. I can neither separate his apraxia from his developmental delay, nor his dyspraxia from his valproate exposure. These are all things that make up my sweet 8-year old son. And as I cannot put my son neatly into a compartment, neither can I put my blog neatly into a compartment. I cannot separate speech therapy from daily life, nor homeschooling from redirection and visual scheduling, or even from my current chaos of putting him in public school.

I am the mother of 5 children, one of whom is a developmentally delayed son who has diagnoses of Childhood Apraxia of Speech, Developmental Dyspraxia, and Fetal Valproate Exposure. I am a homeschooler at heart, praying her guts out that she will be able to bring her boys home from the government schools once again, to teach them at home where they belong. Because of this, I will no longer be adding to this blog. I cannot compartmentalize myself, or my son. Please, continue to ask questions on my regular blog, 5 Kids and a Dog.
I will move all of my posts from here, back to there. (Which is where 90% of them came from in the first place.)
